I knew that the colonists were assholes. But wow..
It’s so weird. for all the years and years AND YEARS I spent in school in the UK we were never taught any of this. I even took history as an option for GCSE. We studied Churchill in great depth.We studied how bad things were because of WW2 and all of the horrible things the other countries did. How bad it was in Russia. The concentration camps. There was even a trip from the UK to Germany to visit Auschwitz, so we could see how ‘bad’ the Germans were. None of this^^^ was mentioned. Nothing about India or Africa or Australia. From about 1880ish to around 1910 NOTHING noteworthy happened. Not even hinted at. There was ‘a war’. But we didn’t need to remember any specific details. Before that, we learned how terrible it was for the Native Americans. How all the ‘buffalo’ were wiped out by ‘over hunting’ them. They never told us the truth. Not once. The funny/tragic thing about it is that out history teachers always taught us to check our sources. While they damn straight lied to our faces. SMDH

And Churchill is kind of hero for Czechoslovakia because he was only one of our allies(uk, France, Russia) who told that sold our country to Hitler is bad idea. But he couldn’t do anything because he wasn’t prime minister at that time.
There is a reason Germany made it illegal to display the Nazi flag or use Nazi iconography.
Germany knows what Hitler did. They don’t want to honor that history.
Germany doesn’t need you to defend it, because they already know what the fuck is up.

“Come take a picture with me,” she said. Encouraged by her attention, he returned. She put her arm around him, and I took the photo.
As I examined the photos on my camera, the man started whispering to the girl. She answered him in a loud voice: “I told you! I’m not that kind of girl.” She seemed agitated now. Finally sensing that I had misread the situation, I stepped between them. The man began hurrying down the sidewalk.
When the man left, the girl’s demeanor changed completely. She seemed shaken. Her eyes were tearing up. “He just offered me five hundred dollars to go out with him,” she said. “And then when I said ‘no,’ he offered me one thousand. Why does this always happen to me?”
“It happens a lot?” I asked.
“All the time,” she said. “I’m sorry I’m getting emotional. I just can’t go out of my house without this kind of thing happening. I have a son. I’m a mother. I would never degrade myself like that. I just don’t understand why this keeps happening.”
“Do you mind if I tell this story?” I asked.
“Please,” she said. “Tell it.”

I’m saving this post because as many times as Tumblr tries to erase this woman’s story and act like anything about this was okay, that’s as many times as I’m reposting it. They can either cut me off or stop being assnuggets about this. whichEVER.
Bringing this back because we’re 20 days into 2013 and I have yet to see this post.
so tumblr and the humans of new york guy did the best they could to scrub this from the site and the story from the internet at the behest of the man and his family/friends/community, completely ignoring that he is a sexual predator and deserved to be exposed.
For those who hasnt seen this, this post completely changed the tone of HONY. Now we get “tough” stories and inspiring stories. We will never see anything like this again.

I remember when I first found out the truth about “Somali pirates” I got chills because of how horrific the truth was and how insanely creepily well the media had twisted the situation. Every single fucking article making it seem like these “pirates” were just after money or something holding innocent people hostage and I never gave it a second thought, why would I? There was no indication that people were trying to legitimately fight off disgusting imperialism that left nuclear waste in their waters, that over 300 people have died from radiation sickness, that Europeans have been stealing Somalia’s seafood because they overfished their own waters and the indigenous fisherman are starving and so these “pirates” emerged to deal with those stealing their country’s natural resources. The truth is enough to make anyone sick to their stomachs.
